CMS and National Institute of Mental Health Release Report on Autism Services in U.S., Connecticut Featured in Report
April 2 marks the fourth annual World Autism Awareness Day, as designated by the United Nations, and April is Autism Awareness Month. In an effort to learn more about how States are utilizing Federal and other resources to support people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and their families, CMS, in association with our partners at the National Institute of Mental Health, contracted with IMPAQ International to conduct a multi-year project to obtain, synthesize, and disseminate information about available services to people with ASD. CMS selected nine States for study, focusing on evidence-based and best practices: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Indiana, Maine, Missouri, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
The Report highlights promising practices in ASD services and recognizes new opportunities for services available through the Affordable Care Act http://www.cms.gov/apps/files/9-State-Report.pdf
