Medical Marijuana Producer Backer


This registration is for any person with a direct or indirect financial interest in an entity licensed as a producer, except it shall not include a person with an investment interest in a producer provided the interest held by such person and such person’s co-workers, employees, spouse, parent or child, in the aggregate, do not exceed five per cent of the total ownership or interest rights in such producer and such person does not participate directly or indirectly in the control, management or operation of the production facility.

  • You must be named as a backer by a Connecticut licensed Medical Marijuana Producer.

Required Documentation:

  • Complete all sections of the online application
  • Applicants should be prepared to provide information/documentation for the following:
    • Personal Information
    • State and Local Licenses, Permits, and Registrations Held
    • Employment Information
    • Production Facility Information  
    • Legal Proceedings
    • Criminal Actions
    • Copy of a Valid US Government Issued ID
    • Passport-sized Photograph (see photo guidelines here)
  • The production facility owner must provide this office with documentation confirming your affiliation with the facility.
  • The Department may request additional information, as necessary.

Application Fee:
All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Initial Fee - $100 
  • Annual Renewal Fee - $100


  • All producer backer registrations expire annually one year from the initial date of issuance.
  • Each producer backer is required to submit a renewal application and fee to the department at least 45 days prior to the date the existing registration expires.
  • If a renewal application is not filed prior to the registration’s expiration date, the registration will become void until the renewal application is approved.
  • If a renewal application is not submitted within thirty calendar days of the registration’s expiration date, the applicant will be required to submit a new application.
