Public Health, Department of

The Department of Public Health is responsible for a wide variety of public health issues and programs. 

The Bureau of Regulatory Services implements state licensing and federal certification programs, while the Division of Health Systems Regulation has overall responsibility for regulating health care and environmental professionals including doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, therapists and dentists.

The Department also licenses, certifies and investigates hospitals, long term care, daycare, ambulatory care, residential care, laboratory, and mental health facilities.

The Department investigates consumer complaints about quality of care issues.
