Office of the State's Attorney Judicial District of Windham

Welcome to the Office of the State's Attorney for the Judicial District of Windham.

The State's Attorney's office is responsible for the prosecution of all criminal offenses which occur in the Judicial District, which includes the communities of Ashford, Brooklyn, Canterbury, Chaplin, Eastford, Hampton, Killingly, Plainfield, Pomfret, Putnam, Scotland, Sterling, Thompson, Windham and Woodstock.

The Office of the State's Attorney for the Judicial District of Windham office located at Danielson Superior Court prosecutes the more serious cases, mostly those crimes classified under state law as class A or class B felony offenses, from all communities in the Judicial District.

The Geographical Area office, located at the "Part B" Superior Court in Danielson, primarily prosecutes cases involving crimes classified under state law as class C, class D or class E felony offenses as well as all misdemeanor offenses and infractions, including motor vehicle offenses.

State's Attorney Anne F. Mahoney

State’s Attorney Anne F. Mahoney was appointed by the Criminal Justice Commission as the Windham State’s Attorney on May 19, 2016 where she currently serves as the chief law enforcement officer in the Judicial District of Windham.

A graduate of Trinity College and the University of Connecticut School of Law, State's Attorney Mahoney began her legal career as a member of the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps where she was assigned at one point to the United States Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C. as part of the President’s War on Drugs.

State’s Attorney Mahoney has tried more than 50 jury trials to verdict. She received the Connecticut Criminal Justice Educational and Charitable Association’s Prosecutor of the Year award in 2006 and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center Visionary Award in 2013. In 2022, she was awarded the Alyssiah Wiley Making A Difference in the Community Award for her dedication to the communities she serves in regard to domestic violence awareness and proactive prevention efforts as well as her efforts to educate the public about important criminal justice and social issues. That same year, State's Attorney Mahoney was recognized by the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence for demonstrating leadership and commitment to improving the lives of domestic violence survivors in Connecticut.

For more than 15 years, State’s Attorney Mahoney was a member of the Hartford Child Abuse Multidisciplinary Team. She also served on the Governor’s Victims’ Rights Advisory Commission.

State’s Attorney Mahoney serves on the Operations and Management Committees for the Division.
