SPOTLIGHT ON WHAT'S RIGHT!
The DCF "Spotlight on What's Right" is a monthly newsletter that includes a message from our Commissioner along with positive stories about our wonderful staff and families.
In September, we celebrated National Kinship Care Month with several stories about kin stepping up to care for the youth in their lives. One youth, Lily, was able to get the right foundation for success when her high school math lab teacher became a placement resource. DCF staff Rodney Moore and his wife opened their home to Juju and discussed the challenges they face. DCF's vision for kinship care is led by Tina Jefferson, Bureau Chief of Child Welfare, and Natalia Liriano, Statewide Director of Foster Care, both of whom are highlighted in this month's Spotlight. Finally, we have known intuitively how important kinship care is--and now we have the studies to back up our approach. Read more in this month's Spotlight on What's Right!
