2009 Seminar Series
The final 2009 Seminar Series presentation will be Friday December 4, 2009. The subject will be Think Like an Incident Commander presented by Deputy Chief Thomas Dunne FDNY dealing with Fireground staffing, tactics, geography and construction. An analysis of the specific tactical and strategic challenges will be used in regards to strip mall fires during the presentation. The Seminar Series will be held at the Connecticut Fire Academy.
IAFF-IAFC-ACE Peer Fitness Trainer Workshop
The purpose of the IAFF-IAFC-ACE PFT certification program is to provide a fitness trainer standard consistent with the health and fitness needs of the Fire Service throughout the United States and Canada. The Peer Fitness Trainer (PFT) program was created so interested fire department personnel could obtain certification in fitness-program design and implementation in order to help their peers with their fitness programs on a one-on-one basis and to help with the physical training of recruits.

The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical services organizations.
HAZ MAT Seminar Explosives/IED Awareness
Wednesday December 8, 2010 is the next presentation of the Haz Mat Seminar. This program is designed to make the First Responder aware of the potential threats and dangers of Explosives and Improvised Explosive Devices, known as IEDs; and the impact on Response and Mitigation in today’s world. The instructors are all members of Law Enforcement and many are members of the New Haven / Yale Police Bomb Squad and work very closely with the NHASH regional Hazardous Materials Response Team as well as other responders. In the class, students will received an overview of Explosives, IEDs, Clandestine Labs, Bomb Threats and Booby Traps, Emergency Response Procedures, Bombing Investigations, Large Vehicle and Suicide Bombers as well as a K-9 Demonstration. Course # 11029 fee $40.00 with lunch included.

Principles of Modern Fire Attack: SLICE-RS
The International Society of Fire Service Instructors in association with the Connecticut Fire Academy and the Long Hill Fire Department in Trumbull are presenting an 8 hour Principles of Modern Fire Attack: SLICE-RS class on Saturday, January 23, 2016 and a 4 hour train the trainer on Sunday, January 24, 2016.

Connecticut Fire Academy Recruit Firefighter Class # 54 to Graduate
The Connecticut Fire Academy proudly announces the graduation of Recruit Class #54. The class of 42 firefighters, representing 23 career and volunteer fire departments from across the state, will complete their 14-week residential-based training program this Thursday, December 4, 2014. A graduation ceremony will be held at the Parsons Government Center at 70 West River Street in Milford this Friday, December 5, 2014, at 1:30 pm.
