Rolling Ridge Pond, Norwalk - 2009

Rolling Ridge Pond Species Map

Rolling Ridge Pond is a 1-acre pond located in Norwalk, CT. The pond is part of the Rolling Ridge condominium development and has no boat access. It has two fountains in its center. Most of the pond is shallow with depths of less than 1.5 meters (4 feet).

Our June 2009 survey was a follow-up to a survey we performed in 2007. We observed only three native aquatic plant species: common duckweed (Lemna minor), yellow water lily (Nuphar variegata), and great duckweed (Spirodela polyrhiza). The most dominant was yellow water lily which occurred sporadically throughout the pond. The other two species were found in small patches at the southern end.
