The Department and Board are currently in the process of implementing a 1,000 hour curriculum that upon completion, applicants will be eligible for a barber license. There are two components to this implementation:
- Inspection of the school and approval of the school's curriculum curriculum; and
- Development and implementation of a barber only examination in the English and Spanish languages. Applicants will not be eligible for a barber license via this route until the applicant completes an approved 1,000 hour curriculum and successfully completes the barber only examination. It is expected that the examination will be available in January 2013.
