CPA Exam Extension

Pursuant to a new law, any candidate who applies to take an exam section on or after October 1, 2023, will have a 30-month rolling period to pass all four sections of the CPA exam. This 30-month rolling period covers the sections that the candidate passed prior to October 1, 2023. Once you apply to take an exam on or after October 1, 2023, your exam credit expiration dates will be updated on the dashboard. You don’t need to request for an extension.

Example: If you take your last exam section on October 1, 2023, and pass, you will have passed your CPA exam if you had passed the other three sections any time on or after April 1, 2021 (30 months from October 1, 2023).

The Board may, in its discretion, extend exam credits for reasons related to health, military service or other individual hardship.

To request an extension, please click on this link to access the request form.  Extensions will not be granted without proper supporting documentation (e.g., doctor’s notes, baby’s birth certificates, military deployment orders). The completed form and supporting documentation (please redact sensitive personal information such as account numbers and Social Security numbers) must be sent by email to dcp.accounting@ct.gov or mailed to:
