DAS and Northwestern Connecticut Community College Unveil New Joyner Science Center

The new Joyner Science Center was unveiled to the public this week in Winsted, with state, college, and local officials coming together to celebrate the newest addition to Northwestern Connecticut Community College.

The college’s veterinarian technician, medical assistant and Allied Health programs will be housed in the new space.

The Department of Administrative Services Division of Construction Services was integral in coordinating the construction of this project.

“Our team at the Department of Administrative Services Division of Construction Services takes a tremendous amount of pride in projects like these,” said DAS Deputy Commissioner Bud Salemi.

“Because of this new facility, Northwestern Connecticut Community College has added a tremendous resource to the college.  Having this new building for the education of Veterinary Technicians and Healthcare students, opens up incredible learning and career opportunities for the students.”

Northeast Collaborative Architects, Lawrence Brunoli, Inc and Downes Construction Company all were attached to the project.

The Division of Construction Services Project Manager was Barbara Cosgrove.

The Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (DAS), Construction Services is the state’s primary department for executive and judicial branch construction-related services and development, administration and training of state building and fire safety codes.
