Hospital Conversions

Pursuant to Conn. Gen. Stat. 19a-486 et seq., the Office of the Attorney General is responsible for reviewing proposed transfers of assets or operations of nonprofit hospitals to for-profit entities within the State of Connecticut. The Attorney General's review and approval is required whenever a nonprofit hospital enters into an agreement to transfer a material amount of its assets or operations to a for-profit entity. These reviews are conducted jointly with the Department of Public Health, Office of Health Care Access.

The Nonprofit Hospital Conversion Act is found in Chapter 368v and sections 19a-486 through 19a-486h of the Connecticut General Statutes.
